High School Reunion Layout

Finished my latest layout over the weekend. It's for my 20 year High School Reunion. I am sending it in with a summery of our family life for our class book. Couldn't resist doing a layout for it .........instead of just sending the photo of our family. This way I get to share more pixs and my favorite hobby with everyone.

I used Basicgrey Lilykate: (Cherry Blossom) for this page. Along with some Crate Paper Ave Collection: (Simple). Other products I used : Cosmo Cricket Chipboard pieces. I used halfway cafe and Storytime collection. I also used Lisa Bearnson Mega Chipboard kit pieces.

I used Crate paper Ave. Collection Frame for my graduation pix. Thought it would be fun to cover the flowers on the frame. So I used some Hero Arts Gems. it was really simple to use them. They were already glued together in a line. So I just cut the amount I needed to fit the flower petal. So fun .....it really added alot to the Layout doing that. Really jazzed up the flower motif. Can't really tell on this scan but this whole layout really shines with tons of Bling bling.

I also covered my Cosmo Cricket brackets with big pink gems. I didn't like the fact that the brackets were RED toned. So instead of painting them/I decided to alter them with big gems. This turned out really fun. Really emphasized the "20 years" and draws attention to it. I was originally going to put the brackets on the second page...but decided to do something else with that page. So I moved the brackets to the first page.

I used a Daisy D tag for the journal tag that reads "since high school". I happen to have my tiny lettering left over from my Christmas cards I made with the KI memories lab kit. These letters worked so perfect for this tag. Plus, they have a bit of bling to them too .... they are shiny. Again can't tell so much on the scan.

I made the "Then" and "Now" tags myself. I had premade tags from Crate Papers but jazzed them up to match the layout more. I ended up using Making Memories Big Brads for accents pieces on the tags. OF course, I had to put some bling on them too. A jewel for each tag. Than added Ribbon. I stamped the words onto the tags with my new cursive Acrylic Stamps.

Couldn't do a layout with at least one Queen and Company product on it(LOL). So I added a flower power brad above the "I".

I found some fun Paper Frill Ribbon made by Doodlebug Design Inc. So much fun....I ended up using them in two places on this Layout. I put the scallop one as border on my frame. The other one is on the second page. It's the flower border strip on top of the Ribbon. I ended up covering the flowers with some more Hero Arts Gems. Alternated the Pink and white jewels. IT really added a sparkle to the page. More on the second Page:

I dressed up the Daisy D tag with some white Hero Art Gems. Just to add even more sparkle. I added my name (with the same stamps).

I goofed up and added the pattern Basicgrey strips along the ribbon after the fact. I only had the strip of Crate paper(stripes) but it didn't seem to tie in good enough with the first page. So I added the Basicgrey Cherry Blossom paper and it looks a bit crooked. I didn't want to tear apart the tag and ribbon and put the paper underneath so I took the shortcut. Live and learn I guess. I was glad I added the paper tho as it seemed too bare before I did that.

I journaled the words: My Love, My Son, My Dog and My Family onto the photos. I print them out myself, so I thought this would make it easier. I had limited space to journal those titles on. So thought that would work better. I used all my favorite family photos from past couple years.

On my photo program I merged the two layouts into the one below. So they are together when I send it in. This was my first time EVER doing a 8 x 11 layout. So much fun! Thought I would try a different format. I got the idea from Heidi Swapp's blog. She recently shared her 8 x 11 pages and I so enjoyed them. So thought I would give it a try.

All in all I had a great time doing this project. So glad I did this for my class book.
I have to comment about my grad pix......Look it's 1987 and I have flat hair and it's not "BIG HAIR". LOL I was always behind the times. Couple years after that pix I had the big hair. hee hee....now i have the same flat hair. I don't think I have changed much...just got fatter that's all. Which isn't hard since I was a skinny bean in H.S.
Another thing you can't tell from this scan is I did try to make this Layout more 3-D. So I used pop dots on all the tags, the Cosmo Cricket Brackets. Especially the Pauline Tag in the middle of the second page. That one is several layers. Almost resembles one of those Grand adhesion's like K & Co. Sell. I made my own grand adhesion. Gee, in reflecting on this LO I did alot of work on it but it took me way less time??? Go figure? TFL! I am off now to read my new CK Mag that was in the mail today...WHHOOO HOOO....love magazine in the mail day.
