Tribute to My Baby Girl

The day I knew would eventually would arrive did.......after 13 and half years my little baby pup shih tzu Muffin passed on to Puppy heaven.

She will be so missed! I don't even have words to describe how sad we are.........and it's hard to even write this entry.

Muffin passed on Oct. 4, 2011-a horrible and sad day.

She had a bout of Pneomonia and other ailments and that day she just couldn't breath anymore and went fast. We were a little shocked as we thought she would get better with the anitbotics we were giving her/but her heart problems and allergy problems probably excalated things to worsen. We had just taken her to the vet and did a X Ray ...and the xray showed her heart was enlarged. I knew she was having heart problems and her allergy meds didn't help those medical problems.

We will miss her dearly but will always have wonderful memories (and photos) of her life with us....she was such a spunky little Shih Tzu/our little cuss!!! Here are some of those photos: I love the one above here....she was so curious(looking at the camera-I probably blinded the poor thing that close up to the lens. Below: she's giving that look she always gave-the attitude look with her cute black lips)!

Our last Christmas photo shoot with her-poor thing we made her go out in the snowbank for winter pixs. She hated every minute of it!!! Cuss! I loved her in this blue sweater.....it was given to us by doug's aunt(from her doggie that passed on). I can't part with it now.....I have to hold onto it. It just means to much to me. I especially love the pix of muffin in that sweater on my blog.....on the pix that says title of my blog(bloggin shih tzu). She was my inspiration for name of the blog.

Our little shih tzu..........will be missed but not forgotten..............Here some mother day photos with my fur baby!

It's lonely without her/she was my little buddy-always by me/always near/my little cuddle bud. I keep looking for her(out of habit but she is not there). A part of our family is missing-so sad!

New Purchase

We spent most of the summer looking for just the right travel trailer to purchase for our family. After combing thru many many different kind of RV's.......we decided upon this one: Open Range Roamer RT303BHS. Here is fun 360 view of one on their website: 360 VIEW and their website: Open Range

Here is the decal on the window of our coach. It's just a decal-you can see outside(it's a window)but you can't see in(unless lights on at night). Pretty cool! We ended up liking Open Range/just cuz their coaches seem so upscale without the upscale price tag. The decor was right up my ally. This model was the compromise we had been looking for in a Travel Trailer. We had to go with a TT instead of getting a Fifth Wheel(which we would of liked). Our truck we just got wasn't able to pull a fifth wheel. It was only rated to pull certain weight. We only have a half ton truck/and to pull a 5th wheel You have to have a big 3/4 truck with heavy duty engine. This TT works for us/for the weight but still is 33ft long/for space. It's pretty long..........yikes! something we will have to get use to. We were looking at various bunk style RV's. This one seem to have what we needed for space and yet have plenty of sleeping space/and lounge space.

See how super LONG this camper is/blocks our whole driveway up/we will be putting in a new garage for it as soon as we can. Straight back from where it is parked in this photo will be putting up another garage just to fit the RV. Have to knock down some trees but it should work(space wise). We can't keep it parked in this spot. The neighbors will have a fit-LOL-and we have to get into our other garage.
This area was what sold us on this model. We looked at many bunkhouse style RV's and this was the ONLY ONE we saw that had swivel rockers and a couch/dinette area along with being a bunkhouse style. Very rare...cuz the bunk space takes up alot of the room in the RV. We looked at many nice bunkhouse area RV's but the one thing they lacked was space in the RV/especially in the master bedroom area. We didn't need that much bunks(since we only have one child). Most had 3 or 4 bunks. This one had one bunk and a jiffy couch that folds down to a futon type bed. Works for us!!! Aaron still has room for guests and the lounge space in the front also turns into sleeping space(dinette, and couch). The couch has a full size air bed. Pretty cozy! So this coach sleeps 7 or 8 people.
I love this space.......the little lamp and table/and swivel rockers.

A nice size table(fits 3 really well) and it's a good place to eat Mac-n-cheese.
The cushions can be made into a bed/and also have storage underneath the cushions for things. This is a U shaped dinette area.
The kitchen where I had to compromise the most. I wasn't thrilled with the amount of space the kitchen had for storage. It's a nice looking kitchen but it didn't have a full size pantry on my wish list. It does have one of those pull out pantry good for small things. The counter space wasn't the best either. I have some solutions in mind tho. I think it will be just fine. As long as I add a wheeled cart/for extra storage. Their is room in this RV for a extra kitchen cart(under the TV area). Really tho, there wasn't too many kitchens in RV that are roomy(LOL). There is only so much room right?

The bedroom was one of the biggest reason we decided upon the 303. The space was so nice/most of the master bedrooms we previously seen-were no joke-Doug's feet would of hit the wall. It was so cluster phobic bedrooms. This one has decent room space and the double doors entry/makes it feel like a suite. Lots of storage-full size closet and some shirt closets and the entire beds lifts up on gas shocks for storage underneath the bed. It's easy to lift up and it stays lifted til you push it down. Nice!!!
I bought some linens for the beds........couldn't resist getting some cozy linens right away. This is my kind of camping!!!!! The mattress that the RV had was AWFUL. So instead of spending alot/on a new one/we just added a 2 inch foam pad/with a 2 inch pillow/fluffy topper. Did the trick/very comfy now.

Here is Aaron's spot. Pretty nice spot for him. He has his bunk. The bunk flips up so you can use the jiffy couch for extra seating in the coach(when not using the bunk). The jiffy couch folds down as a futon style bed if need more sleeping space. I ended up getting Aaron some bedding too/Bobby Jack. I thought the monkey was cute!!! Apparently bobby jack is more for girls but I like this green/blue bedding/and it looks more boyish to me. Aaron also has his own TV space and closet and cubby's(I didn't get a pix of that but it's on the 360 view).

Of course, the potty room. It's the bare basics! We won't be spending too much time in this space. Hopefully, the state parks will have nice baths and we won't have to use our ummmm......toilet room too much. Ha! It's small but what isn't in a RV? I like that it had a porcelain potty tho/that is nice. No plastic potty!

We can't wait to get out and camp now. Not much camping season left but our RV is 4 season. Meaning we can go /in pretty cold weather.

So far the only thing we did was camping in the yard. Doug had to fix all that wasn't right with it at first. Like the sound system was wired wrong. We have TV but it wasn't in the RV when I took the pixs. We will not store it in the RV/when not in use. Same for all the valuables. They remove easy and set up easy enough. Will use them in our home while were not camping. The camper had a surround sound system/that is pretty cool for watching Movies and music. Once Doug fixed it that is. LOL!

Happy Easter PB Display

Happy Easter Everyone!!! I decided to copy this cute Pottery Barn Display. I would have purchased it but ....YIKES! The whole thing would be like 300 for just a little display. I knew I could copy it for less money and be pretty close to same. I did splurge on the ceramic bunnies. Since I have a bunny theme house, I knew I would use them year round. I also bought the eggs on the string. They were pretty affordable. One could make the eggs/with real eggs or bought fake white eggs and write the message on the eggs. I bought the vase and twigs at Micheal's and everything was 60% off the price. Basically, PB wanted 99 for their vase alone. I bought everything at Micheal's for 60 or less. Pretty good right?

Here is another copied PB Display I found Online where they made everything including the ceramic bunnies they painted, and used real eggs and wrote the message onto them.

I was excited to see that on Martha's Eggcellent Show(special Easter Show)she also had the PB Ceramic Bunnies. I guess Martha Liked the bunnies too(LOL)! Happy Easter and have a great Holiday!

Shih Tzu in the SNOW

Well, this photo about sums up our winter thus far. Tons of snow, and more falling as we speak.

We won't have a shortage of snow this year. We already have more than all of last winter. Crazy! I knew it would be bad snow year when our Thanksgiving was White and COLD!

Here a cute pix of Muffin in the snow bank. She wasn't happy at all to take the pix or be in the snow drift. This pix says it all, she is saying-why did you do this to me? She hated every minute of it but I got some good photos of the old gal in the snow. These pixs made it onto our Christmas card this year. Took some snow pixs for our annual Christmas Card. Right after our first blizzard, the sun was out and perfect for photos. I love snow pixs! We all dressed up warm and took some casual pixs in the snow. Some alone and some as a family portrait. Thanks to my handy tripod. Not to worry the shih tzu was warm...she had an abundance of fur(she needed a fur cut/groom job) and a warm sweater and footy pads on her paw mitts. Ha! She was a hoot! She groaned and moaned the whole time. The Shih Tzu hates taking pixs! Especially since I threw her in the snow bank for the photo op. You should have seen her escape when she got the chance. So funny!

Well, this week were getting ready for Christmas. I noticed I didn't post anything since my turkey lights. Jeesh, I am bad! Just so busy with everything these days. I will try to catch up. As soon as I send out my cards....I will post a pix of what I sent out. Happy Holidays!

Turkey Lights

Turkey Bubble Lights! Donna and Bob(SIL & BIL) gave us these fun turkey lights years ago. I always wanted to do something with them but never could think what to do with them? I think they are for a tree but really.....Turkey lights at Christmas? Finally I decided to make them work on my mantel. Doug helped me ......it was my idea to secure them onto a wood platform. Doug did the work in designing the wood to make it work. Now every year I can just put the delicate turkey lights onto the wood frame.

It's fun lighting up the Mantel ....and fun to watch the turkey lights Bubble. Aaron really gets a kick out of that part. He waits til all the turkey's are bubbling. I added some fall leafs to make it more festive. I kept the Martha Gothic candlesticks up...i am really digging those alot. I might have to keep them all year round. Ha! Just switch out the candles for each holiday. I bought candy cane candles for Christmas for the candlesticks ....BUT....not sure I am going to keep the holders on the mantel/since I usually put up my light up garland. If not in that spot where else should I put my candlesticks??? Any suggestions?

Here a closeup of the bubbling and how we put them on the wood piece. Doug stapled the light string onto the wood and can just screw the turkey lights on or off. They get super hot to make the liquid bubble/another reason I didn't know what to do with the lights for years. I am glad we found a home for them.

Halloween 2010

Halloween(Sunday Night)........made cupcakes, and more cupcakes for treats(no tricks)! We invited our friends and their kids(Aaron's friends) for a Halloween/Football Party. Yeah, it was Sunday football(Vikings) and the guys had fun watching the game before the kids went trick or treating.

Aaron made up his table for the kids to party and enjoy. Aaron even made little dinner menu's for the kids and gave them each a marker to use and party favors.

Decided to have potluck for our party: BBQ, Beans, Chips, and Punch and fruit tray.
Took the snowmobile trailer trick or treating/ and tricked it out a bit. The kids had fun riding in the back...and it wasn't too too cold for Minnesota that is!!! Here the trailer with lights on:
Candy loot...the kids got alot of candy! Below is photo shoot I did with Aaron in his costume....he was a root beer this year. Everyone kept drinking out of his straw(LOL)!

sad little shihtzu! ha.....well another fun Halloween! Now onto Thanksgiving....and than GULP....CHRISTMAS! Why do these months just go by so dang fast? Holiday Season is upon us and we just got TONS of fresh snow. Looks like it will be a white Thanksgiving.

Annual Halloween Party 2010

Halloween was a fun night! The whole Halloween weekend was full of activities and fun. Here some of spooky fun we had over the Halloween weekend. First, Spooky glow from lanterns ........as we prepared for our annual Halloween Dinner Party(Saturday Night).

A photo of the table settings.....did the table a little different this year. New plates: Dessert plates from Grandinroad and dinner plates and cups from Target. I found some cute party favors for the table at Micheal's...and used some treat bags from Micheals for my silverware.

Love the dessert plates......all four had a different pattern and plates are ceramic.

We enjoyed our liquid death and beetle goo ALOT!

The theme was Spooky Ghosty Forest/so I added alot of twigs, Ghosts and eerie lights.

Forgot to take a photo of the food ....all I got was the slim pickin's that was left after we chowed down. LOL! We had the usual: Roast Beast, MashBOOtatoes and gooey gravy, corn on the cobweb, dinner die rolls. Along with our potions of Vino(bettle goo, and liquid death). I also made some Milano Ghostie cookies. I put them ontop of my pumpkin Crustless Pie dessert(with a dollop of whip cream....and put the ghost on top of the cream....they look like they were floating on clouds). I think I made too many milano ghosts tho.....i'll be eating them for along while!!! I covered the milano cookie in melted white chocolate...and added the mini choco eyes and when cooled I added some freaky faces to the ghost with cake/cookie decorating frosting.

We added our ghost this year again too, only this time because we had spooky ghost forest up in the dining room.....we decided to keep the ghost in the foyer only. The ghost worked alot better in the foyer area. We also added a blinky light to the ghost....so he could be even MORE spooky.

Added a couple photos of Aaron in his pumpkin shirt......he really likes Halloween Alot! He was lucky this year and got to spend his Halloween with some special friends that joined him in trick or treating. I'll post more later about our Halloween Night.

Mantel Glow

Ghostly Specimen Jars

What's a ghostly forest without the GHOSTS! I added a wax light up ghosts to my glass jars and filled a little fill inside(some ghostly gems and others just a harvest color gems) Put the ghosts inside the jar and tah dahhhh....Ghostly Specimen Jars.

Loved finding these light up ghosts. First I found the ones I purchased at Kmart(one with the spider on it's chest). than I found two smaller size ghosties at Pier 1(no color-just white/yellow color).

These Ghosties didn't end up in specimen jars...instead they will sit inside my Dining Room Hutch. I found these gouls at Oriental Trading Company and are made out of crystal type plastic(not wax).
Love how they change colors.....

Another Pier 1 ghost-this one made out of the wax. turned shades of Blue, Purple and Red.

Ghostly Forest

Here is a peak at the Halloween scene I made in our dining room. As you can see this year the theme is Ghostly Forest. I got the idea for the spooky sideboard twigs from a Halloween magazine. Only the magazine idea didn't have lighted branches and decorated pots. I decided to put my own spin on it/I wanted my twigs to be lighted and create a glow. Here is the finished project.

Aaron is standing in the Ghostly Forest. Appropriately titled since I have glowing ghosts in specimen jars and ghostly apparitions hanging from the ghostly trees. LOL

Along with the ghostly sideboard...I also decided to make a bigger twig tree for the corner next to the sideboard. I knew the sideboard twigs would be too small to hold ghostly trinkets...so i wanted to build a bigger tree to hold all the ornaments and treat buckets. Turned out really cool.....and it was a fun project. it's so simple and easy and a good cheap way to add flair for your Halloween parties. We had alot of storm damage this summer. So there was no shortage of down tree branches in our woods. So I grabbed some twigs......and here is how I made the ghostly forest.
First, I bought some plain terra cotta pots(the big tree I already had a plastic old flower pot laying around...so use whatever you can...reusing something old is good). My hubby helped me secure the twigs into the pots with cement. yes, we cemented them in-lol! After the cement dried.....I spray painted the whole branches and pots BLACK. I used glossy spray in can from Micheal's. It dries quickly.....after it was dry. I put small lights around the branches and secured them with black wire ties(from hardware store). I have about 4 light sets on each twig pot. I used lights from Micheal's that had a combo of Orange and purple lights on the strand. The strand was only 3o lights on string. Which was nice so I could use each strand to wrap a branch and not have so much string to deal with. I did it that way so I could have less string showing......I wanted it to be snug to the branch and not have light string hanging everywhere. It's not a big deal just depends on what look your going for.

After I was done with the lights.....I added Scrapbook supplies to the pots. The green spiderweb ribbon trim, and the 3D foam stickers. Super Easy!

A look at the BOO twigpot.

Here is the bigger twig tree.....base. I already had this flowerpot in the garage. So I painted it black too and added bigger scrapbook ribbon as trim and just the 3D bat stickers. I even put a little word ribbon at the base. I was going to put some spanish moss to cover the cement BUT found this shiny, synthetic purple spider web did the trick instead. Looks kinda like colored spanish moss and it was much easier to deal with. I just bunched it up and put it over the cement. Gave it a little color punch with the black and white twigpots.

Can't wait to have our annual Halloween Dinner Party in the Ghostly Forest! Aaron is super excited about it as he helped me alot with our spooky forest. Here is a closer look at all the ghostly apparitions on the big Spooky forest Tree.

Bought the felt ghost and pumpkin at Pier 1 imports. I thought they would be perfect and Lightweight for my ghostly tree. If you push them in the middle their eyes light up(the ghost makes eerie noises, and the pumpkin says happy Halloween). Aaron likes to push the button ALOT! hee

I bought the mini treat bucket(also light weight) from pottery barn kids. Added them to the hanging branches. I love the owl.....he's so cute! The treat buckets were super cute but I noticed going real real fast at PBK. I ordered early and they were on back order.

Than I added some buckets from the dollar bin at Target. The tin buckets are little heavier, and don't work as well. Note to get lighter stuff for twigs. LOL

This was a fun project that I will have to copy every year now. Making the dining room a spooky haunting .....and eerie glow of the Ghostly Forest.

Jack-o-lantern burgers

Made these tasty jackolantern burgers for supper this weekend. I picked up Sandra Lee's Halloween Party ideas magazine at Micheal's the other day. I got the cheeseburger idea from that magazine. Sandra Lee always has good recipes and party ideas. She also loves Halloween as much as I do. LOVE IT!

My french fries got a little burned. Well, not burned but really really crispy. LOL!

Aaron wanted me to help him with something and I got distracted ....by the time I got back to check my fries....they had crisped a little longer than they should have(like five minutes too long). They were still tasty/and it's better than soggy fries. Look on the bright side right?

We are gearing up around here for Halloween. Have decorations almost done.....and getting ready to make treat bags and menu ideas for Halloween dinner party. We haven't visited our local pumpkin patch yet. We plan on doing that this weekend sometime if the weather cooperates. It's been so nice lately...I can't believe we haven't gotten to the pumpkin patch earlier...since it's been so nice. We plan on going to the pumpkin patch to get haybales, cornstalks and stuff for our snowmobile trailer. Yes, we are decorating the trailer again this year. Aaron wants to trick or treat in the trailer again.

My Break

Wow....where does the time go? I decided this summer to take a break from blogging. Tried to stay away off computer a bit. Just to get a break from it. I didn't do too good with Facebook. I did manage to limit time on blogger tho. It's super harder than I thought to manage two sites. I am debating on even keeping up my blog. I only have a few followers and MOST are on Facebook. It is nice to go back and check out things I forgot(like how I decorated things last year etc...). My blogs been a good journal for me to look back on. I am still debating on keeping up with blogger. I think if blogger made it easier to download photos it wouldn't be so bad. It just takes FOREVER to make a blog when using photos.

I will try this month to blog better and see where that takes me. Time has a way of getting away from us and I have let that get the best of me lately. I have also had problems with my new computer/and new photo programs. I am hoping this fall/winter to get more active in fixing my computer woes and getting use to my new photo program. Alot of the reason I haven't done much with my photos lately.

My fav. time of the year is approaching and I do have a couple projects in the works to share. I will try to post soon.

Patriotic BBQ Weekend

Made this my new banner. I found this sign @ Oriental Trading Company. Love that place! I love the meaning the sign has/good American Values!!! We had a great 4th weekend. How was every one's Holiday weekend? We hosted 2 family gatherings this year. Back to back BBQ's. Alot of fun. I didn't even have time to get many photos. I manage to get some to share. We had our annual BBQ in the porch...we made up the porch into a eating area. This year we had to have the buffet table in the kitchen area. We just put a new gas stove in the porch....and it limited the area. I could only fit the eating table in the space. That seem to work out alot better/as I made my buffet table alot bigger(added a table) and all the food was in one general area(the kitchen). My kitchen is right near the porch anyway. Porch and eating area: I bought new plates(from Target) but ended up with same color scheme(blue/and Green).
Tried to make the outdoors cozy too...and added some new plants:

I made some Fun Mini Pies for party favors to take home. I got the idea and Tool to make the pies from Williams-Sonoma. I also bought the Williams-Sonoma Jam(mix berry and apple and peach) to fill the pies. I found some cute cupcake boxes(in 4th July colors and patterns)to put the mini pies into. I was scared the pies wouldn't fit in the cupcake boxes but my measurements were correct...and they fit just right inside.

Here what the tool looks like and how I used it:

Can see how I had to cut out top crust and bottom crust. It's not the easiest tool but once you get it down it's not so bad. Mostly just rolling out alot of dough. To save time you could buy pre-made dough.

Thanks to Midwest Living Magazine I got a another great inspiration ideal.....to make pretzel sparklers. Very easy treat and makes a great display on the buffet table.

Just buy Pretzel rods and white chocolate chips and fun patriotic sprinkles assortment. Melt the chocolate and dip pretzels into the chocolate.....shake off as much of the dripping chocolate as you can...and than sprinkle and decorate ontop of wet chocolate. Let sit on wax paper in fridge to harden. Makes it alot easier if you have plates or bowls with wax paper underneath when you decorate the pretzels. That way you can use whatever drops and have less waisted sprinkles. Cuz the sprinkles will go everywhere otherwise. That why you need to shake as much of the chocolate from dripping(this will take time) as you don't want the chocolate dripping onto your sprinkles on the plate(so you can reuse the sprinkles)plus it keeps it from getting messy looking dripping chocolate pretzels. That's not pretty~LOL! Real easy party favor dessert and it will sure to be a hit. It was for mine. My hubby likes them cold from the fridge but you can have them sit out too. The chocolate just gets a little softer that's all but it shouldn't melt unless it's put somewhere hot.

Jars filled with Patriotic tootsie rolls, mints, cherry candies, and hot tamales and Nibs. Set out the patriotic lollipops in a form of a pinwheel look on a glass plate. Bought some items from Oriental Trading Company(stacking stars), found a weird ugly patriotic cow...just had to have it...it was bizarre! ha~ Had my berry wreath and patriotic teddy bear in my front entry. To top it all off/a patriotic Cake from my Brother in law's bday.

Mom's Day, Truffles, and Tortes and a few strawberries

Happy Mother's day to all my blogger friends! I hope everyone has some special plans with their loved ones for the day.

Doug and Aaron are going to pamper me in the morning. I think they have some choc. covered strawberries in mind, along with some yummy brunch items.

We even have some yummy pastries .......(Vanilla Bean cheesecake Rhumba)? from this wonderful pastry shoppe: Truffles and Tortes.

I enjoyed my Saturday shopping for some special MOM items(clothes), and will be going out for dinner later for Celebrating Mom's Day with the In-laws.

Finally getting my Easter pixs on my blog. I hope everyone had a great Easter Sunday. It was a very nice day in Minneapolis for Easter Sunday. Everyone enjoyed the day. We had our Easter Dinner around 1:00 pm. So we had alot of time to hang out and enjoy the rest of the day with family.

Aaron enjoyed his Easter Baskets and the finding of the eggs(Egg Hunt). He was really into the egg hunt this year. He even used his egg hunt helper(see pixs of Aaron below-he has it in his hands). I enjoyed Easter dinner alot, and too much perhaps. I over ate...let's face it, smelling that ham all morning cooking.....ummmm! So tasty! The ham was really good and so was the rest of the meal. We make easy stuff! So one can't go wrong with the recipes. I set the table for the festivities, and displayed my decorated eggs on the extra table(food table). Everything basically was the same as last year except for the new bunny plates and the Bunny candy jars as the centerpieces for the table.

Dinner we had Ham, Cheesy potato casserole, sauteed Asparagus, Carrots with Hollandaise Sauce. We also had Tequilaberry Salad and homemade rolls. YUM! I am getting hungry again ...and I have to stop it cuz I am officially on a diet after this meal(LOL)! I didn't get a pix of dessert but it was the same as last year(cherry Cheesecake Pie).

And you guessed it ...time for the Easter Bunny! We went for a walk with the Crochet Bunny! I like the pix of Muffin riding in the truck. She didn't want to go for a walk-E-walk that day. Too much Ham perhaps???

and HAPPY EASTER! It's time for the Easter bunny to creep downstairs and hide Easter eggs/and put out baskets(cuz everyone is asleep). So funny...tonight Aaron was concerned HOW the Easter Bunny would get into the house. He was talking about how the bunny would have to get into the garage......and would have to use etc....etc...he just was chattery about the Easter bunny tonight. Infact, he wouldn't go to sleep cuz we said the bunny would be here in mid morning hours. So he was probably excited about catching a glimpse. LOL!

Easter-Eye Candy Fun

These are the Candy Jars I was talking about......that I made.....from Inspiration from watching Martha Stewart the other day. Martha always has some good ideas. I thought I would give it a try. I found some cute jars at Pier 1 imports(the big big jars were almost 50 bucks-yikes/so I went with the smaller jars-20 bucks instead). Only my bunny was kinda large for the jar-LOL!

I bought some Jelly beans-I originally was going for the one color jelly look but couldn't find anywhere to buy single color jelly beans. So I went with this pastel jelly instead. I added some foiled treats inside the jars too. My poor bunny looks like he's drowning in jelly beans~ha! I bought even smaller jars to compliment the larger jar. I added to those smaller foiled choco bunnies.

I am going to use my candy jars for the centerpiece at our Sunday Easter Dinner table.

Below is some fake eggs I bought but here is what you can do with em(not the plastic eggs but the one in the box)
Added them to a couple fun glass jars(inherited by my mom-love those jars).

Here they are on display but I moved them to my dining room hutch. I like the glitzy look of those eggs. Have to use them next year too.

Easter Plates........................I found these cute dessert plates at Williams Sonoma. I thought I would use them on my Easter Dinner Table.

I am preparing to get Aaron's Easter Egg Hunt and the Easter Baskets ready. Aaron's been into sponge bob alot!!! LOL

I have my treat favors to make for the Easter table too. I will show you a glimpse at my Easter Candy/bunny jars too. Inspired by Martha Stewart idea. Mine didn't look quite like Martha's but I gave it a try anyhow. Ha! count down to Easter Sunday!

New Gas Stove

Part of the fun of building your own (porch) or anything for that matter....is the fact that one can keep tweaking the space or improving upon it. Well, at least that's how I look at it...cuz our porch has been a ongoing project. First, it was just screen porch, than we wanted windows, than we insulated the floor...etc...etc....now the new change is warming the porch. We loved my ma's little electric stove we put in the porch. However, it proved to be not efficient enough heat source for those frigid winter temps. So, we decided to put in a real Gas Stove. Only we really like the look of my ma's little electric stove. So we got the a gas stove that looked similar in color and design. The only problem with the new stove is........we wanted to vent it directly out the back(no stack to the ceiling). So in order to do so and make code work........we had to move the window higher in order for the direct vent to be away from the window to follow code and work. I wasn't thrilled about moving the window up higher...cuz it would ruin the flow of the look of the porch. All the windows were level with each other and I liked that alot. However, After Doug got done with the window......it turned out real nice and it works better with the stove. So it wasn't as big of deal as I thought. Only a construction mess for a few days. I tell you it was worth it....we love the stove. It really is going to heat the porch nicely. We got a gas stove with little BTU's....so it wouldn't over power the porch with heat...it seems to be perfect. Now in the winter we can run the stove on thermostat and keep it maintain heat in there. Here is the stove ....on a nice cool night.....warm and cozy!

We also put a major door on the door going to the outside. Before it was just a screen door. Which worked great for maintaining the heat in the porch too. So, now we almost got our screen porch ......working for year round use. LOL! I think it would have just been easier to make it into a 4 season from the start........but......ya know...we like doing things the hard way!

I know I've been absent from my blog alot......Aaron got sick with pneumonia. Which wouldn't have been so bad but we ended up in two different ER's cuz we didn't get the right diagnoses right away. That a long story and a frustrating one. It pretty much took up our whole month of March. Remember his truck we made for him in my last post.....yeah...that one. Well, that when Aaron got sick and he wasn't able to celebrate with his class transportation day. So we made the truck ......and he didn't even get to use it. Kinda a bummer for the little guy. Oh well! that the way it goes sometimes.

I'm gearing up for Easter....I will post some sneaks at Easter soon.

Aaron's F150 Truck

We've been busy with the craft projects lately. We had to build a vehicle out of cardboard boxes for Aaron's Kindergarten school project. They are having transportation day at school and they wanted the kids to work on a project. You know what that means right? Ma and dad get to work on a project. LOL! Anyway, after all the Valentine's projects I did....I gave this task to Doug. He did a great Job. He made a replica of our Ford F150 Truck. Aaron loves the real truck so this was special, to make his own F150 truck. LOL! I let Doug use some essential scrapbook TOOLS....my paper cutter and my Curvy Cutter. Both worked great for cutting the paper into shapes(like the wheels)! Doug used the hot glue gun to adhere the paper onto the cardboard(something I should of done with the mailbox I made). It worked alot better on the cardboard. Here some more views of the truck:

Valentine's Day Weekend-Day 3

The Actual day for Valentine's Day was Day 3 of our weekend=Sunday Feb. 14th! This day we decided to do our annual eat out with Doug's parents. Which worked out really well to pick up our son from Grandma and Grandpa. Usually our annual thing is to go out to eat at a restaurant called: Canyon Grille but because of the awful economy..............it closed down. So we need a new place and thought of Aaron favorite place to go. It's called the Rockwoods Bar and Grille. Aaron likes it cuz it has trains running throughout the restaurant. Here is some photos I took so I would have something to scrapbook about later. Notice I have my light up necklace and bracelet. I wore them to the restaurant and they were a hit with families that were out for dinner.

Notice I have same pix of Aaron and Doug......I cropped it and put the wording father and son and used it for his facebook profile page. I used the one of me with the word LOVE scrolled on it for my Facebook Page. I even got some photos of Judy and Dave(Aaron's grandparents).
You can see we had a good dinner....again! Seems like all we did was eat, eat and eat for Valentine's Day. Uff! Time for a diet and workout routine. Speaking of: here is a pix of that yummy pizza I ordered from Rockwoods. They have really good pizza's. Love their chicken pizza made with rotisserie chicken and a Alfredo garlic cream sauce. Yummmmm!

After we went out to eat we went home and just relaxed. We had planned to do more but the weather got kinda ugly after dinner. So we went home and relaxed the rest of the night. It was a good ending to a great weekend. Thanks to my honey for making everything so special and fun for the weekend. Here is a little present to Aaron from Grandparents.......he got a valentine too from his favorite all time fav. LOL!

Valentine's Weekend-Day 2

Day 2 of our Valentine's Day weekend........we decided to stay home and have dinner in our porch. We were going to go to a movie but our Comcast on demand had some movies to rent that seem like a better fit for the day. So we had a quiet dinner and movies later. The porch was decked out already for Valentine's....so we thought it fitting to eat dinner under candlelit.

We made a Caesar Salad......homemade croutons and all. I used some old Marble Rye I had laying around and toasted the bread up and cut it into croutons. YUM! Than I bought the lettuce(can't remember the name now it's escapes me)and cut that up and used Caesar dressing( I didn't make that as it seem to hard). Otherwise, everything was hand tossed and cut. I love this bowl: it's from my mom's collection. It's vintage Pyrex. I used it to toss my salad.

For the main dinner we had our favorite stand bye meal.....Roasted Chicken and potatoes. I made this before and posted it on my blog. It's a favorite......chicken roast fast in the oven and the potatoes under the chicken collect the chicken juices and those potatoes are the best. It's also a easy supper......Dinner in a pan!

Here is the chix and potatoes......it's so rich you really don't need anything else with it. We ate too much! After dinner we had a movie marathon...........watched the Time Travelers Wife, and Couples Retreat. While watching movie we had some more Candle action(this time the battery operated kind)they look pretty real huh? The red ones don't work as well as the white.

Day 2 was a nice quiet time at home..........can't beat that!

Valentine's Weekend-Day # 1

We made a weekend of out of Valentine's Day.....stretched it out over the weekend and here is Day # 1-Friday Night. We were fortunate to have Aaron have a weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's house over the weekend. So our romantic weekend started out on Friday Night. My Honey took me out for dinner. We decided to go to an old stomping ground .......a place we haven't been in ages(before Aaron was born and probably not since our early dating years). We went to Nicklow's. Love that place! It's an old ma and pop place...........and has a feel of old time cafe.

Date Night started out with this AMAZINGLY yummy cake Doug bought for us. A cake made for 2! Love it............and it was tasty! Love it!

Nicklow's is located in not such a nice area .....near pawn shops and cement mixer places...BUT it is nested right on a little pond/lake and is a amazing little surprise in Spring Lake Park, MN. I can't believe the owners are STILL there and meet/and greet people as they come in to eat. It's just like walking back in time. When people cared about service and serving people. WOW!

Can tell I took the pix over on the Right before the left pix....it got foggy out that night. LOL

We didn't make reservations: and Nicklow's gets really busy-so if your planning to go eat there....you can make a reservation. We didn't mind because just like the ole days before when we were dating/and YOUNGER....we had a little cocktail time. That was fun! It's been so long I didn't even know what to order....but thought a martini sounded kinda fun. I ordered a apple martini............isn't this fun pix:

Of course as soon as I snapped the pix of my martini glass....the guy across the bar asked me if he was smiling when I took the pix. LOL! Guess not too many people take pixs of their drinks. hee hee

Here is my honey once we got our table for dinner. I made him wear that shiny shirt(ha ha ha...he hates those). I love the booths at Nicklow's too...reminds me of old time booths.

Dinner was spectacular........Love these older ma and pop places....we got such quality food AND even got both Soup AND salad. We didn't have to choose ....U get BOTH! Nicklow's as you gathered is Greek style food/place but really more American cuisine/but Mr. & Mrs. Nicklow are of Greek decent. I love their salad........so yum-E! I had the Chicken Kiev and all that goes with it/the mixed beans side was delish! Doug had the Prime Rib.......I really hate prime rib but he loves it and it looked gross to me but he said it was YUMMY! I'll take his word for it!

After dinner we could hardly move after all that FOOD! It was a really good dinner date. Thanks Honey! After our dinner experience we were in SLP for dinner. So Doug gave me a tour of his NEW school building. I forgot to mention that my hubby got his old/new job back. Remember a few years ago post when he left his old job after 20 some years. Well, after 3 years he's back at his old school district. YEah! We were in the area and I never got a chance to see the new High School Building. So, he gave me a personal Tour. They Just rebuilt the High School............and it's pretty cool. I use to work in the district office(with my MIL)...well, the District Office isn't even THERE anymore. It's now the Parking lot of the High School. LOL! It was fun to see how everything changed and they have a really nice building. Here some images from my tour:

Lockers and hallways................and the Big SLP in the front as you walk in..........and oh how exciting the BOILER ROOM....LOL! That is my man's favorite place!!! Those are some nice boilers compared to the old boiler room days. Just one of the excersice rooms.

The high school was having a Valentine's Day dance too that night ...........and a basketball game was going on in the gym(didn't get pix of that). After my personal tour...........we went home and had our Delicious cake for 2! It was really a great date night. Thanks to my honey for making the evening so special.

VALENTINE DECOR

Happy Valentine's Day~! I hope everyone had a fun Valentine's Day with their sweeties. I had a good weekend with my hubby. We made the whole weekend of it.

I'll post more about it soon. Until than, here are some Valentine EYE candy:

Bought some new baskets and wall hangings. I went to Target and purchases the WORD sayings(Love, Kiss, XOXO).

As with every holiday.....I bought too much CANDY and treats. I ended up buying double of the Lollipops.....so I could have some to have in my holiday zone. If you remember i bought them for Aaron Kindergarten class. Aaron is enjoying the lollipops alot and so am I. *Yum* along with some kit kats bars and Dove Chocolates and Butterfinger hearts. I displayed my mom's Vintage Candy Jar too. I think it was my grandma and grandpa's dish at one time(not sure)? My sis would remember more......but I do have fond memories of this jar. We use to put the vintage Christmas Candies in this jar at Christmas time. I think its a really pretty dish!!!

Here one of the word sayings(LOVE) I think it's suppose to hold photo or something. I added some ceramic cupcakes and other photo/card holders to the window ledge. Next year, maybe I will get around to actually putting something in the photo/card holders. LOL!

Kiss................time for the porch decorations and I added the KISS photo holder and added some candles all over.

Some new candles and some old..............................

We found these huge hanging lighted hearts(3 on a string) at Party City. Since there were only 3 hearts per string...we decided to save $$$ instead of going around the entire porch with all of them(like I usually do)....I got a idea to just make the back of the porch the focal point and string more affordable plain red lights on the sides of the porch. I than hung the fuzzy hearts garland...to hide the cords and add some shine. I didn't decorate much for Valentine's Day last year(in the porch) so this year we added alot. I like it alot..........gives that romance feel and my hubby and I used the porch this weekend for a dinner for 2 /romance by candlelight. I told my hubby we should have charged money for dinner here in the porch to other people. Could of raised ourselves some money. I think it would be a fun place to dine for Valentine's day for any couple.

I will post later our Valentine's Weekend. It was really special to have a entire weekend devoted to Valentine's FUN. I can sum it up in one word really: FOOD! ~ha

Valentine Treat Bags

We made Valentine treat bags for Aaron's kindergarten class. It was a process getting them to the school(let me tell you). Here what we did:
Started with a clear bag with hearts on it. I added a personal name tag and curly ribbon. In the bag we had these cute Happy Valentine Boxes( We put pencils, erasers, notebooks and stickers and the toy monkey in these boxes).

I'd get the boxes again, those were super cute and they were like McDonald's Happy Meal type box( the way it opened).

My Theme turned out to be Monkeys. So I found these Felt Monkey Lollipop holders. I bought similar lollipop holders last year(only they were Cat and Dog themed). I had to figure out a way to package the lollipops I bought for the kids...without them getting banged up and broken. So I got this idea to buy these Valentine Cups. Than, I attached the monkey lollipop to a piece of card stock and put it inside the cup. Than I put the lollipops inside the cup with the monkey. It worked great and I packaged the whole cup inside a plastic cellophane bag(along with pencils and a fun Valentine Pinwheel).

Can you say alot of Monkeys in the box! Yes, and I bought all the items thru Oriental Trading Company and Current.

You can see here how small the monkeys are that we gave out......I have them hanging out on my Victorian lamp shade. I told them not to MONKEY around!!!! LOL

I made a basket for the teacher too...can't leave her out right? This pen was in the basket. I got myself one too...it was too cool! I bought that at Party City.

I bought the Necklace and bracelet for myself for Valentine's Day too. Thought it would be fun to have blinking lights for Valentine's Day. I gave the teacher the bracelet. The bracelet I purchased at Party City too but the necklace I ordered thru current.

Here is the teacher basket......just some fun items like a candle, light up pen and bracelet, frame and heart saying pillow.

These are the erasers that went to the kids (in their party bags)

and the Valentine pinwheels for the party bags. Took awhile to assemble all the pieces and bags, and toys and such. It went off without a hitch tho and the kids really liked them. It was fun! I think Aaron had a blast handing them out to the kids in his class.

Valentine Cards

Here is a quick look at the cards Aaron handed out for his kindergarten class. We used the chipboard characters as the main design. I actually had the cards made(personalized thru Current) and just decorated the inside of the card and the outside envelope. We were able to personalize the cards by his classmates name....(the school gave us a list) and each child was assigned a number to make it easier to pass out their cards to their friends. So we used this for the envelopes....what we did is cut out 2 sizes of hearts(one red, and one pink) and we used the big red heart for the child's name, and the pink heart for the child's assigned number. We used a chipboard character for each child's card.....and I had enough characters to give each child two characters(one inside the card and one on the envelope). Here is my messy scrap area.....I bring Aaron's little cart table up to the scraproom so he can help with the scrapbook project. It doubled for a extra table for the crafts. I used these FOAM stickers for the cards too and also passed them out in the treat bags I made for his class(Yet another post for later...on the treat bags).

Again, the monkey Chipboard characters.....

I used 3D foam adhesive to make the characters more 3D effect and each character had a chipboard word saying that went along with the character. Plus, I even had stamp stickers with the character on them and used those for the envelopes too.

It took longer than I wanted it to .....to make all these cards(ugh)! I had Aaron sign his name on the first card we made and he ran outta room on the card. He got AAR....and didn't have enough room to finish his name. So Like last year for Preschool....I had him sign his name on separate piece of cardstock. Than all I had to do was post it onto the card. I wanted him to help and sign his name. He did a good job! I will be back later to post about the treat bags & party favors we made for his class.

Valentine Mail Box

Here my first attempt at Helping make my son's Valentine's Day Box for school. I've made one way way back in the day(for myself) but that was along time ago. Thank God for Scrapbook products....makes it more fun, and easy. We started with the idea of making a ordinary box....into a mailbox with working door and flag. My Hubby did that job...........and did a great job I might add! After the mechanical were done....we started to decorate the box.

Here is the project on the floor of my scraproom.......made each side first before pasting to the box. Unfortunately, I ran out of my Xyron permanent Adhesive...and was forced to use my re-positionable Xyron roll instead. Yikes...not such a great idea. The sides, and seams were folding over by the time Aaron brought his box home from school. I fixed it with some scotch tape to hold the seams down. That worked! Aaron wanted to use it for his playhouse after he was done using it for Vday at School. So I had to make it more durable with the tape....so he can use it for his rabbit's house(playhouse).

I used the new line by K & Company.....the little characters and paper were fun and perfect for Kindergartners. I even used the Chipboard Monkey that the chipboard was packaged in/for the front of the Box(I just added Aaron's name to the heart cutout and pasted a Chipboard sign that reads, "Happy Valentine's Day". I used the chipboard characters for Aaron's Cards he passed out to his classmates. I will show that a little later in another post. The characters are so cute, Monkeys, Robots, Lions, Frogs, cats, Bunnies etc.....very cute! We bought the handle at Home Depot....and added it to the box so the kids could open the box like a mailbox.

Here the monkey chipboard...I just tore the monkey off the container and used it for the mailbox front. The monkey was too cute for a storage container!!!

Yes, I decorated the inside too...it's a little hard to see here but in the back you can see the shiny hearts(foil hearts paper). I thought about putting another chipboard monkey on the inside flap but instead used the robot logo...since I used the robot paper inside.
I used the circle punch and cut out some characters from the cute paper with all the characters on the paper(glitter character papers). I pasted some of them on the inside flap along with the robot logo.

Here is a closeup of our working flag.....I used some 3D stickers along with some epoxy characters and chipboard words.

I decorated the backside of the flag....with some cutout heart shapes and used one of the Circle punch characters(Lion),and chipboard letters and hearts.

The top I just used the glittery Character paper.....and the back...I used some stickers that reads: Happy Valentine's Day.

I used some cool border stickers for the top lid and used the border stickers for the designs on the front and back of the box.

I also used 3D character stickers for the side without the flag. You can see with the closeup the 3D effect of the sticker. I used a circle punch and the foil red heart paper for the circle each character backdrop. I had border stickers with the characters on them too and used that for below the 3D stickers....and more of the foil hearts paper.
On the flag side I used the same design as the other side but only this time Used the Epoxy Character stickers. They have more of a shine to them and less 3D but have shiny jewels and layer effect to them.

I think Aaron was happy with his box...and the working flag and door flap helped that along. I think next year tho, Aaron has to help out more with his box. You can tell I did all the work. I didn't get him to do much but he did help with his cards. The attention span is not quite there yet...but He does like to help scrapbook(which consist of him playing around with my scraproom TV more than scrapbooking but oh well)!

Squeaky Clean Sled and New Skies

Here is the little green machine all cleaned up and fixed. Notice the new Green Plastic Skies. They work alot better than the metal Skies. It's ready for a spin now. You should have seen my 200 lb plus husband riding this thing around the yard. LOL! He's not suppose to drive it(100lb limit)but he had to drive it around to warm the engine(to change the oil). So funny, I should of got a pix of that. It's definitely made for little kids to drive.

It will be fun for Aaron....this weekend Doug and Aaron go up to the "GUY Cabin" and are taking the sleds to drive around on. It will be a nice Guy getaway(as the Grandpa and Uncles will all be there) to have fun GUY things to do. I call it a guy cabin cuz it has no bathroom(only a outhouse)and no running water(only a little hand pump in the cabin) and warmed only by pot belly stove. Yikes! It's way up in Northern MN, and let's just say this....It's always the COLDEST temps up that way(always hit the MN record for coldest temps). Anyway, it will be good way for Aaron to learn the ropes of driving the sled...as the cabin is on a little island on a lake.....and as you know the lake is frozen solid. Makes for good open space to learn to drive sled. I'm still going to be nervous as ever!!!!

Little Green Machine

Here the big thing Aaron got....his very own Snowmobile. We thought he was ready for learning to ride a sled. We hunted the Internet for a newly used Kitty Cat sled. Found one...and picked it up for Aaron to drive. The sled is in pretty good shape, the only thing it needed was parts for the shocks and New skies. Doug ordered Green plastic skies to match the Arctic Cat green.

Doug is pretty handy and can fix that stuff. So we got a real good deal on the sled picking it up(needing repairs). Doug has it all fixed up now(he ordered the parts right away). of course, this is only to be used to toot around the yard so Aaron can get use to it. I about panic the first time he tried it out. YIKES! These Cats don't go very fast BUT......faster than I expected and it was nerve racking! It's alot different than driving around his little motorized Car. This is on frozen snow.....around trees and it's a throttle...so it alot harder to control and stop. Of course, Aaron was getting the hang of it right away but not before HE tipped it over and fell off. Luckily he wasn't going too fast. The snow sled is designed with a cord...and if they fall off the sled...it shuts off automatic. Thank GOODNESS! I will be nervous for awhile...Like for the next 20 or more years(LOL LOL LOL)!

It's inevitable......he's in a family full of snowmobilers and guys that like to do GUY STUFF. So it was time I guess. Can you tell I am still nervous about it all?

January Catch Up

Now that it's Feb. I thought I would catch up on our January. Pretty basic...Same old stuff of putting the Christmas stuff away for the season, getting over the holiday rush, and getting use to the cold frigid temps. LOL! I didn't post pixs yet of our Christmas/New Years Party. Here is a few photos from the party. First is the New Years Eve Hat we bought for Aaron to ring in the new year. Pretty cool hat.....lights go around the clock as it lights up. We did our usual watching

The ball drop and eating treats. I made cookies mainly for our party the next day. We nibbled on some as the ball dropped.

Aaron enjoyed watching Daughtry on New Years rock n Eve show(yes, we let him stay up late).

Here some modifications I made to the same photo(above).......I cropped it and I thought it looked cooler as a Negative. I couldn't get the annoying bright light out of his hat in the pix. Anyone know how to do that in photoshop?

Here are the cookies I made....They looked burn in the photo but they were not burned. They were tasty! I just made easy spritz cookies for the party. I know...there are alot of them right? I made a double batch but I knew I needed alot for the party. I send everyone home with their share of cookies. I also made Candy Cane cookies again. Probably the last time I make them. Just too hard to make and nobody enjoyed them at all. I guess everyone like the spritz better.

The Christmas/New Years party went well....here my cookies on display to eat.

We Decided to get Famous Dave's BBQ for the party. I went out and bought this TRIO Crock Pot System(from Target). I've been thinking of buying these for the many get togethers we have at our house. This seem like a good buy. I am happy I did...worked great. We kept the famous Dave's we ordered warm in these crocks. We ended up getting Short Ribs, Georgia Pork, Beans, Coleslaw from Famous Dave's...and I added some favorites we make as well. Our fav. are BBQ little smokies sausages, BBQ Meatballs and Chip Dip and Veggie Tray and Punch. I think Aaron drank about half of the punch(that kid and punch)!

Famous Dave's BBQ Rocks!!!! I like they gave us a bunch of wipey naps......I put them throughout the house in these bowls. Um.....with all that BBQ...You bet I did that!

My Veggie platter.....and our Family room set up for Eats(notice I am obsessed and put blanket on the WHITE couch(so no BBQ sauce spills would be easy to clean up)LOL!

Took some pixs of My boy....he's getting so big! It just amazes me how fast they grow up. Speaking of I will post next post of what Aaron got after the holidays. It's big!

MUFFIN!!!! She's sure is messy in 2010(LOL)! Speaking of updates for January...it was just Muffin's Bday on Jan. 29. She is now 12 years old. Happy Bday Muffin!!!

Happy 2010 a little late! We were busy having our Christmas Party on New Years Day. I can't believe the holidays are already past. They just went by so quickly.

I thought I would post my video from Vacation. This is my family in our Fjord cottage at Cove Point Lodge Resort...In Beaver Bay, MN.

We had a good time as usual at Lake Superior. I wish I could bring the Fjord home with me and the view too(LOL)!

I finished my Christmas cards at the lodge too...and sent them out not a moment too soon. Sent them from good ole Beaver Bay Post office.....Funny story is we were going to send them out in Silver Bay, MN but they closed their Post office down for an HOUR for lunch break. Can you believe that?(gotta love small towns). That was the DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS and everything. Crazy right? I can't get use to small towns shutting everything down so early too. If you want to eat out or shop you have to do so before 8:00 pm. Sometimes even earlier. I complain here in town when things close before midnight(walmart or Grocery store etc....).

I used winter wishes theme cuz of how late I would be sending them out this year. Plus, we took the winter shot outside this year. We did manage to take our family photo out by Lake Superior...only the sun was peaking in and out of the clouds. This shot looks cold but it really was 28 degrees(not bad)....just a few hours later(and a day) this is what superior looked like

Crazy cold, wind, waves......and only to get worse. We decided to go home(Minneapolis)early and we were glad we did. The Northshore got hit by the winter storm really bad. We would of been stranded on Christmas by the lake(which wouldn't of been so bad really)! We really wanted to be home for Christmas tho and we left that night instead of checking out the following morning. It just started to snow when we got home. Perfect timing. I could tell by the how the lake was getting rough it would be bad storm.

In Minneapolis it wasn't so bad, my sister in Grand Forks, ND got alot more snow. It was bad enough to postpone our family get together with Doug's side of the family. Doug's sister in Hibbing couldn't make it due to the weather. So as I was saying, we had our party on New years Day. I will try to post some pixs.....later....and some of New years eve.

Christmas 2009

I didn't get time to post pixs of my new Christmas tree. Our old one was getting to hard to assemble. So we swore we would get a new prelit, 3 section tree...and more tall and skinny for my narrow family room. My old tree was shorter and very wide. This tree works out alot better for the space. Doug loves it cuz it's easy to assemble(LOL)!

I did switch out my theme for the new tree. No more red berries. Those were nice for awhile but not real easy to make look good every year. So I bought a few new ornaments and went with a traditional (Bulb) look instead. I like it alot. I usually only use white lights......but I found these really cool LED garland bead strings. They really made some nice color to the tree and they double duty as garland beads. This tree was a Martha Stewart Slim 9ft tree.

I got new stairway garland too/from Target...it was already pre decorated but not prelit...so I had to put lights on them.

Of course the porch again this year was festive:

look thru the windows and you can see the snow that we got during Christmas snow advisory/storm. We made a good decision to get back early from our little getaway up on the Northshore. Turns out Duluth, and the Lake Superior northshore area was hit bad by the winter storm. So we were happy we made that decision to leave the night instead of waiting for the morning. Minneapolis didn't get hit too badly. It could have been worse.......and it was so warm today the snow was melting and it rained. Weird!

Our Christmas plans did change because of the weather. We made it home but Doug's sister and bro-in-law didn't. They were stranded up in the Hibbing area. So, they did not make it to our house for Christmas day. We postponed Christmas until New Years Eve Day with them. Doug's parents that live in town did make it to watch Aaron open some gifts. So our Christmas was a little disjointed.....as plans were put aside, and we did things on a wimb(like we never do...LOL)!

We had a good time with Doug's parents and made them a last minute ham dinner. Our Christmas day I don't even have pixs of our time. We basically just hung out and was casual the whole day. Just real relaxed and didn't do much. Aaron played with his new toys, Doug slept in(like he never gets to do), I slept in(like I always do(LOL), and Muffin had a good time sleeping, eating, sleeping , eating, sleeping eating....LOL! I have very little pixs to show of my Christmas......because it was so casual. I did get some...and by the looks of my photos.....I need to practice on my new camera(ha)! I think I had it set wrong or pushed something wrong. That's ok

tho, I didn't take much anyway. No worries!

I did manage to catch this moment of video tho.....so much fun! Aaron really got into opening the presents this year. I just wish I could of got a video of the previous gift he opened instead of the one i did capture....LOL! Doug had to explain what the present was, as it was in a large box, and not put together. It wasn't a toy, we had bought him a chair for the computer area(one his size). We also bought him a computer hutch/desk to go with it. Anyway, he was a little more overjoyed with the previous gift which was the handy mandy work bench/repair shop thing. LOL! oh well! Sorry bout the vid too....Aaron has a little of the plummer "crack" showing at times. I can't seem to find pants that fit him. Ha! You can tell we were casual I didn't even comb the poor kid's hair that day. Jeesh! I like the photo with the big present(red bear wrappings). Notice the tag?(Santa tag)...Aaron's Grandma saved that tag........(as she used it for Doug when he was a little boy). she saved it all these years to use on Aaron gift. That's vintage and cute idea. Now i have to save it for Aaron's kids someday. Yikes, I am not as good as saving things. I will try!!!!

Muffin got a new pet pillow.....poor Muffin. Her eye was hurting her. She takes allergy pills and sometimes they tend to mess up her eye. So we have eye ointment for that purpose. She did like her new pillow but.............

She is a little "BIG" for it. Oh well, she seems to not mind much? Ha ha ha....poor Muffin! She's getting quite the large back end. She needs a doggie diet for sure!

That is our Christmas in a nutshell. I will try to post about our time spent at The Northshore.....at Cove Point Lodge Resort. We took more photos and video up that way. It was fun time. It made the holidays very rushed but well worth the hassle.

What Another Gift?

Santa has been good to me this year. I got another gift right before Christmas. I know I already got a new camera but was disappointed with it. It's not a bad camera.....just not right for me. I've been kicking myself for not getting my second choice...which was a bigger size Canon power shot with huge zoom lens. I think Santa knew the dilemma I was facing and felt bad....and behold the new camera right before our Christmas vacation. Cool!

I love this camera!!! Not disappointed with this camera at all! I'll still use my little point and shoot camera but this one will be for more serious photo taking.

This camera is not a SLR but looks like it.......it's about medium range between SLR and point and shoot. So it's perfect next step for me. I love the zoom capability on this camera. I'll be posting some pixs from our Christmas Vacation we took up on the Northshore. That why I've been so absent from blog world......been struggling to get everything ready for Christmas and leave for vacation for a week before Christmas. Yikes! We made it thru tho and it was alot of fun relaxing up north for awhile. I made my Christmas cards right at the resort with my little portable printer. That worked slick and the new camera was really nice for taking tripod shot for our Christmas card photo shoot. Loved it! My new toys for Christmas really help me with creating for Christmas(card). My cards were so much cheaper this year too/as HP had a free download site....for cards. I just bought blank photo paper and made a card from their site on my little HP printer. Slick!

I've always wanted one of these portable, compact 4x6 printers. I can't wait to use it. I am going to make my Christmas postcards on it. Hopefully! Will see if it works. I love the carry case too. Very nice and so portable. It prints 5x7 too and can print via bluetooth(mobile phone, iphone etc). Even has editing tools and no need for PC either. can photoshop your pixs right on the touch screen.

Wisconsin Thanksgiving

I am posting kinda late but we had a great Thanksgiving meal at My sister's house in Wisconsin.

We had all the fixin's: Turkey, Stuffing, Corn, Potatoes and Gravy, Sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, rolls, brocolli casserole dish, probably forgetting something. That was alot! Vino too!

I am using my sister's photos....I didn't bring my camera....so I had no pixs.

Here some pixs of the festive tables:

The Turkey: not the prettiest pix of the bird but it was really tasty. My Niece hubby slathered the bird with some herb seasoned butter. Ummmmmm.....the turkey was delicious.
More of the festive table: my sis set up two tables for all of us. Over 20 plus for Thanksgiving this year.

We are gearing up for Christmas......getting the boxes out and ready. I have my trees out but not decorated yet. I'll try to get a pix of the new tree this year. I ran all over town looking for the perfect artifical tree. Found it at Kmart.....it was the martha stewart slim 9 ft tree. I needed a slimer & taller tree for my family room area. We had quite the fun time tracking the tree down at the stores. It was on big time sale.....and no kmart in town had them instock anymore. So we BEGGED the store clerk for the floor model(LOL)! After a day of waiting .......we ended up getting the floor model. Yeah! I liked this tree cuz of the slim factor and that it was a martha tree.......martha tree was nice and full....with loads of lights. So easy to assemble. Compared to our old tree that took us 3 days last year to assemble. Yeah...awful! It was time for a new tree...our old one was 1996. First tree we bought for our house.....and we didn't move in to our house until 1997. So the tree is older than the house. LOL!

Is everyone getting ready for the big Christmas holiday? I can't wait to read about everyone's holiday fun.

Aaron's Playhouse

Finally, Doug worked on assembling Aaron's playhouse(last year's christmas present). Doug been so busy this past year/with different jobs(job changes)....He finally had some free time to work on Aaron's playhouse. Kinda late in the season to move it outside. However, we thought keeping it in the heated garage all winter would be a good idea. That way Aaron could enjoy it in the heated garage environment.

This was NOT an easy assembly job. Doug said building our house was so much easier!!! ha!

Aaron is really enjoying the house. We even ran and bought some furniture and things. He has just enough room for a little mag-shift couch/bed, and table and chairs. We ended up buying all Car's theme stuff. We even bought a little rug....there is no real floor in the house yet. Doug is going to build one if we move it outside someday(and a little porch). Doug even wired it up for lights, and it has a working doorbell, the shutters open and close. Even the little weathervane if real and works.

I put some fake flowers in the window boxes. I know, not very boyish....but Aaron didn't mind and I thought it looked festive. lol!

We might hang a flat screen in his little house too. Depends on if mommy will give up her scraproom TV for awhile(LOL)!

I like the door............dutch door with cute hindges. The playhouse is made out of cedar wood. So it smells really nice. I think it might need some paint later. It didn't have much of a coating on it. It really is charming playhouse for the price. Although, I can see Aaron growing fast out of it soon. The little Car's couch folds out into a little bed/with sleeping bag and all. Its' kinda small for him but it works for a playhouse.

Doug wired undercabinet lights at the top of the ceiling. It was kinda dark in the playhouse....so the best solution for lights seem to be undercabinet smaller lights. Eventually doug will wire them in and have a light switch to turn them on. For now they are powered by extenstion cord.

Muffin even is enjoying the little house......it helps to have "snacks" to lure her in. LOL!

Fall Pumpkin Urns

Switched out my Halloween pumpkins for real deal. I thought I would add the large pumpkins to the urns I painted. It was kinda bland so I added some fake leafs to jazz up the color. Than I just added the rest of the pumpkins around the urns. I had originally thought of adding some font/and message to the pumpkins...but never did that. Bummer! That would be a great idea tho....

Aaron enjoyed helping me with the pumpkins.

So did Muffin...oh wait...we left her in the house and she was mad! LOL

Annual Halloween Dinner Party 09

Hosting our annual Halloween Dinner Party for family. Didn't have time to "fix up" myself much but wore my Witchy hat I found at Festival Foods of all places. It's fun hat....it has a skull/crossbones hanging from it and you press it and it plays music. LOL! As you can see the dining room is ready for the dinner party. Dinner was in the oven and getting ready for festivities.

I wore my black kitty cat shirt: Doug thinks it's really an appropriate shirt cuz it says "wicked Kitty" LOL! Kitty is one of the various nicknames he has had for me. I told him I could wear this shirt year around(hee hee).

The table is set and ready with all the treat bags and goodies and party favors.
As you can see my table is full of stuff......not much room for the eats! You can see the ghost too!

Aaron's Place setting...he made the pumpkin candle(with the dixie cup). It lights up with one of those flameless candles inside. Aaron is pretty inventive kid. He was so proud to put it on the table. He helped me out alot ....decorating the table. He really enjoys it all. He was real excited to put the character cups out on the table with me. He assigned everyone their character cup.

My extra table(cuz the dining table is always FULL) holds the FOOD! Here is the salad. YUM! Tequilaberry's salad(we don't make this...we order it from local market...it's so tasty).

Here is the FOOD.....Had Roast Beast(beef), with corn, carrots, potatoes and gravy, rolls.

I took the photo of the food table cuz I plum forgot to take a pix of my plate full of food....I scarfed it down almost before I forgot to take a photo. OINK! It was tasty! Nothing better than a roast in the oven all day long cooking. We had 2 roast cooking. The smell was just so good in the house.

We had Monster Mash Cupcakes for dessert. I wish I could take credit for these tasty cakes....but we ordered them. They're very fun cupcakes. They have marshmallow ontop with some icing(fondant?)over the marshmallow.

More cupcakes: and for people that wouldn't like the monster cakes.....I picked up some regular cupcakes too. Aaron with his grandma..................and the fun creepy hand he made at school.

Aaron worked really hard at decorating his table for Halloween party too. Isn't that cute? He was setting it up for his friend Rabbit(stuff animal) to eat for dinner. Aaron also decided to try out my witches hat. He looks better in it!!!

Halloween 09

Finally some Halloween Pixs! Here is Aaron in his spotted dog costume. He's kinda a fat little doggie(we had to put his heavy puffy winter jacket underneath).

I told him to make a woof sound when people gave him candy. LOL!

He sure makes a cute doggie! I will miss the cute outfits for Halloween. Seems like the older kids get(especially for boys) the ugly and scarier the costumes get.

No matter what age....in Minnesota for Halloween...it's almost always freakin cold! So it has to be a costume they can wear with enough room for a coat underneath. Otherwise, you have to wear the coat over the costume and what is the point of that???? That stinks!

I was going to put some black makeup on his nose and around his eye...but it did work out too good. I thought Aaron would just end up smudging it all over the place.

I thought he kinda looked like the michelan man with this puffy coat underneath. LOL! Get it? the arms on the sleeves are like the Michelan man arms(only his is white). You know? the Michelan man...tire ad....guy...cartoon? Oh well, guess I am the only one who thinks weird thoughts. LOL!

Halloween Trailer

We decided last minute to use our snowmobile trailer for trick or treating. We didn't have much time...just a day. We ran to our local farmer and found some hay bales & cornstalks. We had lights and banner. So we decked it out in lights. We didn't have much time to fix the kinks(maybe next year we can work on that more). The kinks: Lights used up too much wattage, and we were only able to use half the lights we picked up. My hubby even added a thingy(girl tech term...LOL)to make the lights work. It was still too much wattage. I think mostly cuz we had garland lights instead of regular twinkle lights(that use up less wattage). It was ok, but everytime we went over a bump or stopped it would make a annoying humming noise and the lights would go on and off/on and off. LOL! Aaron hated that! Otherwise, the snow trailer was a hit! We only wish more people and kids would have joined us. Everyone we knew was either sick, or doing something else. What a bummer! Maybe next year!

Trailers are the popular mode of transport in our neighborhood(cuz we have acreage lots)for trick or treating. So the kids can't really walk between houses. It would take forever. So either people take trailers or SUV's or some 4 wheelers. I was so ticked...I missed a tricked out trailer lastnight. I was passing out the candy for awhile and was getting bored. SO, I took my turn going out in the trailer with my son. Only I missed the other trailer that was out and about. I guess it was decked out like a sleigh(go figure? for halloween? Christmas?). That would have been really neat to see.

Another bizarre thing we encountered on our trick or treat run......one of our neighbors had a really really really LARGE TV(I think it was one you can rent)outdoors and it was PLAYING. The wierdest thing....no one was watching it, and no one was at the door for the trick or treaters. So weird. it was like everyone vanished or something. The TV was super loud and had some really strange MOVIE playing. Kinda creeped us out. It didn't help that they lived on a very quiet cul-de-sac street. Maybe they were punking all the trick or treaters? It was really strange. It looked almost like a drive in movie but without anyone watching or there.

It was a fun interesting night. How did everyone else Halloween go?

Halloween is about the candy right? Here's the treat bags I made for our Family Annual Halloween party tonight.

Lots of candy inside the felt bags. I bought these felt bags couple years ago. Never used them. I thought this was the year!

I must be getting good at getting the right amount of candy. I bought just enough candy to make for the trick or treaters on Halloween...and For my son's class....and for these felt goodie bags. Not too much candy left over. Last year we had a little under 60 kids at our door. So I made 60 treat bags. Extra 23 for Aaron's kindergarten class and 8 felt bags. Whew! Lots of candy.

I made these party favors for our Annual Family Dinner Party. Made them with herb garden containers (bought in the dollar bin at Target). Very cheap way to have party favor. Bought discount on Candy Corn.....the most expensive part was of course ...The scrapbook stickers. LOL! I haven't scrapbooked in so long, so this was fun little project. Just decorated the containers with Halloween Epoxy stickers(clear and regular). The stickers are fun way to make the plain container come to life. The stickers are glossy and raised....so they add a little 3D effect.

Outdoor Halloween Fun

Remember the pumpkin that was going outdoors soon....Here is where he ended up. On my back Deck(on a haybale).

Same with the Pumpkin light string.

I needed an extra pumpkin so I ran to my go to Store(Target) and purchase this orange glowy pumpkin. He kinda matched the pumpkin light string. He was the perfect focal point.

I gathered up some leaves from our yard and dumped them on the deck and haybale. Free easy way to decorate for fall scene. I really like this photo with the pumpkins. Might be getting the hang of the new camera. I like that I don't have to do much editing with the new camera(especially when I use NO FLASH). I need to learn all the settings still. There so many options...reading about it would take forever. SO I take so many photos anyway. I think I will just learn by trial and error.

Here are some closeups of more of the fall scene on our back deck. Yes, the scarecrows have moved to the back. I thought instead of throwing them out...why not use them on the back deck. I like them better here. I use to put them up on my front entry but I wanted to make more room.....near the entry. Plus, these scarecrows have seen better days(rotting out). The one lights up(his face). I like my sitting down scarecrow man cuz he can sit and hold things. So I have him sitting on the haybale and holding the pumpkin lights.

The pumpkin fall scene. My favorite part about this scene .....I can see it every time I look out my kitchen window. Love that! We also added the ghost lights hanging down above deck roof. It's hard to tell from this photo...but they blink on and off....for a cool effect.

We bought some new signs for the front too. Target had a sale on these yard signs.....and we got them for 10% the sale price. They didn't have any more in stock...so we took the displays. So they gave us more off on the price. Love that! Plus, we didn't have to assemble them either. LOL! Just a photo of Flash/No flash effect:

I like how they light up so fun and they fit perfect in corners of my rock bed. Speaking of signs.....here is the 2nd sign we bought from Target. I have the one from last year in the porch and it's my blog banner. Maybe this one will show up next year for blog banner??? LOL! I didn't like this sign as much as the porch sign. The font is just so much better on that sign. This one's ok...but it's hard to read until you get pretty close up. It's neat when you do get up close and I do like the bats flying over the moon part. That is really cool! You can kinda see my skull blinky lights on the door glass. We added those this year too. They play a spooky theme from Halloween the movie. They are motion activated! It should give the trick or treaters a thrill when they ring the door bell.
I redid my entry this year....this sign and skull lights were part of the change. Another change I made...I put my totem pumpkins in my urns this year. I was sick of them on the ground falling over/or trick or treaters kickin' em over. So I decided to paint some old urns black and tie and weight the pumpkins in the urns. I really like how it worked out. Plus, I added some more pumpkins with different lighting(red verse orange light). Not much of a change but enough for a different feel.

I don't know what happened to this photo.....LOL! Blurry! I was in a hurry(it was starting to sprinkle outside). Here you can see the whole entry. There a better photo below it without flash....gives more of night effect.

Spooky! The photo below is the inspiration for my black urns and using the totems in urns. In this photo they used real carved pumpkins. I don't do real, cuz they just don't last. My light up pumpkins last every year........I miss real but I do put real ones out(not carved) for fall scene later. I thought it was really cool how they traced trees on the pumpkins and than put little holes like stars shining bright. Cute! I am not the creative so I ran to Target(got light up ones)....Hee hee!

Ghostly Fun

Check out our ghost in the hall entryway. He's fun! Might be kinda dark cuz I wanted to capture the strobe light.

Nothing new with the friendly ghost...just was fun to post a pix with my new camera. Of course, last year we got the porch sign going and the caldrons. Did the samething with the porch this year. I do have a new banner sign....I'll take some pixs when I decide where to hang the banner. I am thinking the entry way outdoors. Will see?

October Winter

I know I should be use to Minnesota weather but this is just freakin ridiculous! It's suppose to be fall color season at peak right now. The trees haven't even lost all their leaves yet or turned colors. I think it's safe to say that our autumn is a bust!!! What a bummer, it's usually my favorite time of the year. Although, I've been sick most of it too. I ran into problems with my bronchitis and ended up in the ER last week. No worries, they gave me tests(Xrays) and all was clear in my lungs(From Pneumonia). Just severe Bronchitis with Influenza. Could be the H1N1 virus but they wouldn't confirm. My whole family is sick right now. Sick house around here. At least the weather is good for staying in and relaxing. LOL!

Look at the bright side right? I have some more photos of our 2nd snow. yes, this wasn't the first and it won't be the last. I just hope we get snow .....in December and January so we can snowmobile. I fear we will get snow in Oct. and it will be just light to no snow in the winter. The way the weather is going lately. We had unseasonable COLD weather in July. Unseasonable Hot weather in September and went right to WINTER in October. Crazy!

Good ole Midwest....we love it!

Remember I said that the old farmstead in Northern Minnesota SOLD. Well, I spoke too soon and the sale fell thu. What a bummer on that too. I jinxed it by saying anything. Next Time i will wait till closing. LOL!

On a good note: I've been so sick I haven't gotten my Halloween stuff outside yet. Saved from the snowfall. Maybe by the time I get well....the weather will warm up and the snow will be gone? Let's hope!

Muffin had to put her footy's on and she HATES them so bad! Keeps her paws from getting wet and cold.

October TIME

Yeah! it's October!!! Wish I wasn't sick. I got a bout of Bronchitis and it's bad. I'm hoping it won't last another few weeks. I want to enjoy my October. I've been sick off and on for month now so I have to be close to done with the sickness right???

Gearing up for Halloween even if I've been ill. bought these fun Luminaries from Bed Bath and Beyond.

I took the pix with my new camera...what do you think? I have to try lighting them up and taking a pix. I'll let you know how that works.

I even took a new video with my new camera. It's suppose to have better HD quality vid....let's see how it worked:

I couldn't figure out how to rotate my video the ride side up. LOL! Aaron decided to be a Spotted Doggie for Halloween. here he just tried on the outfit we bought from Potterybarnkids.com. He needs to complete the outfit by wearing black leggings and black undershirt etc...but he enjoyed the costume. Here in the video Aaron was trying to copy Muffin. She has a disgusting habit of rubbing her buttocks on the floor. So Aaron was copying her here. Looks pretty bad and even worse when the dog does it. She is gross!!!

I love this spider cake on the cover of Country Living magazine. Doesn't it just give you that Halloween feel? October and Halloween are just the best! I still need to get out my decorations too. I bought some new Halloween decor for the front stoop. I was getting tired of the same look. So I am going to try to make the front door different this year. Besides that my scarecrow men are falling apart at the seams. I think I am going to try to reuse some of the stuff I have and remake the entry way. Will see? I have some ideas in mind. Here one more video of Aaron but this one is completely sideways. I don't think I can rotate it. I've tried several times with no luck. You will have to turn your laptop sideways(LOL)!

The video doesn't seem that great to me...but than it is alot better on my computer/versus the blogger version here. I was going to post it to my facebook account but couldn't get it posted on facebook at all. UGH! Facebook is even more frustrating than blogger(if you can believe that)!

I think it's still summer

I think it still summer time outside. I'm going to put up my fall time banner....just so I can hope for fall weather soon. I haven't posted in awhile.......my last post about Muffin and her surgery. She is fine now and her eye has recovered. She is now just as cussy as ever...LOL!

We have done alot in last month since I posted. We went up for a short little getaway in Brainerd, MN. That was fun! Found a new resort near Nisswa area. What a charming place. It was called the Good Ole Days Resort. The resort was located in the perfect spot. Just 6 blocks from cute downtown Nisswa(very touristy town) with lots of fun shops and eatery's. Plus, the resort was right on the Paul Bunyan Bike Trail. So we brought our bikes and Road to town. So much fun! We ate at the local favorite pizza place. Very good pizza! One night we went to Lost Lake Lodge Resort(nearbye) and had a Top Chef Style dinner. We could of saved our money cuz the pizza was alot BETTER and alot CHEAPER!!! However, the experience is what was worth stoppin in at Lost Lake.

We want to stay at Good Ole Days resort next year....only this time rent a cottage for a week. The resort had the best layout for kids. Great swimming area for young kids and all the bells and whistles to rent boats, kayaks, paddleboats, canoes etc........

Here is a view of the grounds from our deck. We stayed in the lodge room(as we made last minute reservations...and every place was so booked up)We were lucky to get a room here.

Aaron having fun on our deck looking out at the lake. We been to alot of resorts but this by far was the Cleanest and well kept grounds we ever saw. Really nice!!! They had nice outdoor grills everywhere on the grounds for guest to use. We really want to go back next summer.

Some Lake Views: here is the swimming area beach. The resort has this massive steel dock going out in all directions. We took the pontoon paddle boat out for a try. That was so nice! We didn't take our swim suits cuz we were there only overnight and so briefly. What a bummer, we didn't realize how nice the swimming beach would be. Aaron missed out but he did get to play with some nice kids on the playground area. This was a great family type resort.

The lodge of the resort had a free breakfast(continental) and this is the area to lounge and enjoy TV(common area). The main lodge was so cozy and it had a screen in porch that lead out to the lake. Really relaxing. Here Doug and Aaron enjoying Fox news(LOL)!

The landscaping and grounds of the resort was just as nice. Check out the flowers...

The flowers at the top of this post are some from the resort too. We wanted to do something with Aaron before he started school. So we decided last minute to travel to Brainerd area and enjoy what was left of the summer. Only it's still SUMMER outside. It's been in the 80's here. Crazy hot for September. I like it cooler, and really wanting Fall to show up soon.

Speaking of Fall, we are gearing up for our family fun for Fall time events. Like Halloween(my favorite, and harvest time fun, Thanksgiving). We already done our Labor Day. Doug and I anniversary was on the 2nd, and my birthday was on the 4th. Doug took me out to dinner at a fun Italian Restaurant in town called Spasso. It's near the Lake Minnetonka area. All I can say is it was YUM-E! I had the grown up mac n cheese...and Doug had the pork chop. It was a nice casual atmosphere but with really great food.

Aaron started his first day of Kindergarten after labor day weekend. He is really enjoying school. It's an adjustment for ma to get use to Aaron being in school all day long now. WOW! Time really has flown. Here is Aaron his first day of school......

Let's see what other news .....oh yeah, the family farmland and home sold. We were left to sell my ma's home after she passed last year. We had the home on the market thru the summer and it sold. I'll have to post some pixs of the ole homestead. It will be weird that it won't ever be in the family anymore. Lots of memories................swimming in the river, working in my dad's fields, playing with the neighbor on our bikes and four wheelers, and snow sleds. I remember going to chop wood with dad on the river with the snowmobile. We'd haul our own wood to burn in the family room wood burner stove. Like I said, loads of memories.

Did I forget to mention....I have a new camera now. WHOO HOO! I have barely tried it out yet. These pixs are with my old camera. I will post new photos when I get enough nerve to try my new camera out. I got another Canon Powershot. I had such luck with my old one....but this new canon can do so much more than my old one. I have to get used to another camera again. I'll try to get pix of the camera and model. It's suppose to have much better video capability too. Will see? My old one was so bad with videos. I'll post more later. Nite everyone!

Surgery

Muffin had surgery the other day. Don't worry...it was minor surgery. She's been getting those skin tags(look like a bump) all over since she's gotten older. Well, couple years ago we got a few cut off(another minor surgery). The bump tumor decided to grow on her lower eyelid. Finally it just got to big to deal with and had to get it removed. Now that she's home she has to wear one of those CONES around her neck. She is not pleased about it!!! Here is a video of her not too happy about it. I gave her a piece of Turkey to ease her PAIN. LOL

She's so funny, she forgets her pain when food is around. She is all better, just getting use to her Cone. She's putting up with it! She keeps running into things(doorways and such). Here some pixs of her before(with the tumor)and after(with the cone).

Aaron's Bday Party

I hope you all got to see the smile box scrapbook I made for Aaron's 6th bday party? I thought I would post the rest of the photos here. Most of the ones I did for the book was about his little party at Grandparents house with his friends.

Here are some more pixs of the event. The grandparents decided to host this year. Which was a nice break for us. Plus, it just worked out better with his friends and family to make it over to their place.

Aaron picked Curious George as his theme for the party. We ran to our favorite Party City and picked out all kinds of FUN George stuff. I had an idea to pick up little tote pails from Party City. I bought several colors. We bought each kid a stuffed little curious George. We put it in the pail along with some Sun glasses, stickers, whistlers, other party favors. Thought it would be fun for the kids. Oh, and we also bought an extra little grab bag for the kids(Curious George one). In the grab bag was more games, puzzles, and Lollipops etc.... I figured the pails could double for the kids to carry their loot home. Yes, I am a momma that thinks ahead!!! LOL Wish my dh thought that way. We were half way home when I got the idea for the pails. So we had to turn around and go back to Party city and get the pails. WHen I have an idea, I have an idea. LOL! My dh wasn't happy! Below are more pixs of the party. Judy hung the sign and she did a great job!!! We put the party favors on the table and the tablecloth fit Judy's table really nicely. I have some various pixs of the cake too. We picked that up at our local Rainbow Foods. I added some more curious George trinkets to the cake(and the Age 6 candle).

Some more pixs from our time at Space Aliens. We went to Space Alien's for Lunch with just the family. My sis Franny and my brother Paul joined us. We had a good lunch and Aaron played some space alien games. He received free meal and alien antennas. He won some pretty fun trinkets at Space Aliens from winning some of the games he played too.

The space alien fries are the yummiest ever!!!!! Love their dips that go with the fries.

Here Aaron is opening his gifts toward the end of the day. He had a pretty good day but it was cut short by bad weather. It rained in the beginning of the day. However, by the time it was time to play in the backyard with his friends the sun was back out and nice. Than after that the storms rolled in.

A Toshiba laptop computer....NICE! I want one! LOL Now he has his own computer to use for watching DVD's and looking up his computer games. He will share this computer with his daddy.

This was a gift from the kids at his party, some fun squirt guns to play in the pool with the kids. Below is just the crazy glasses he won at Space Aliens.......................they are sooooo cool! I even had to try em on too.

Aaron bday was a good time and he really enjoyed his 6th bday with friends and family. It was extra special bday celebration having it at his grandparents house. He was able to invite his special friends to join in the celebration with him. He enjoyed that George was the extra special guest at his party fun! Make sure you check out the Smile box scrapbook in the previous post for more party pixs. It was fun using smile box for the first time. IT was fun to make a scrapbook even it was just a virtual one.

As promised....here are our July 4th photos. We set up our picnic in the porch again. It will be our tradition. We haven't even taken our windows off in the porch(screen porch). It's so breezy and comfy without even having to take them off(the door has a screen and the air conditioning runs into the porch too). So it stays pretty cool in the area even with the windows on. Makes it easier than getting the porch all wet too. I like that! I decorated the porch about the same as last year...only we set up our table in a different spot. Different spot for the buffet table too. We had two less people to fit at the table this year. So we were able to make the most of the room. The table cloth is different...I use my strawberry table linen for the occasion. It really matched the plates I bought last year. I still used my caddy buckets for the silverware and use my big candle holders for the centerpiece down the center of the table. I even reused my little flags in each bucket to give the place a bit of patriotic twist. God Bless America!!!

Just more of the table setting. I used my lanterns I bought last year in every window. I had many I bought last year for Judy's and Dave's 50th party. So I was able to put one in every window. I bought some extra little 4 of July theme candles next to the lanterns...just to bring so more patriotic theme to the porch.

Here some random photos of us................I bought a skirt from Jcpenney again this year. I felt like I needed to go to a barn dance. LOL! I took a photo below flairing out the skirt. I was just going to wear the one I got last year. However, Jcpenney had more outfits from their line American Living. So I picked out another skirt.

Muffin begging for the steak at the table.............this is her rightful place...in the begging mode. The food was really the same as passed years. Just picnic type foods: Salads, Veggie Tray, chips and dips, Baked Beans, Deviled Eggs, Steaks etc.....Here some views of the food on the buffet table.

Our tradition is a little different...instead of fighting the crowds to go see fireworks....we opt to stay home and have a bonfire. We light the candles in our porch and watch the neighbors set off fireworks in their backyards. LOL! It makes for a less stressful time of rushing to get somewhere. Plus, our city has fireworks in July at their festival...which is usually sometime after the 4th weekend. So here are some photos of the porch in the evening and our time at the bonfire. Aaron enjoyed riding his bike while we chit chatted at the fire pit. LOL

July is our busiest month.......so I have alot of updating to do here on my blog. I just wanted to post a quick note and let everyone know...I will have pixs up soon of our July. We had a great 4th of July......and right after that we went on a little getaway to our favorite spot: Cove Point Lodge Resort in Beaver Bay, Minnesota(Northshore). My two sisters joined us on our excursion and it was a really really fun time. I made a photo book I will share soon on our time spent at Cove Point Lodge(we stayed in the Fjords at Cove Point again...those are so nice)!

Of course July 14 was Aaron 6th bday. I haven't even gotten to those photos yet(still on my camera)but I will share soon.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Summer...I can't believe it's almost over. Here in Minnesota it's been super cool for July. I LOVE IT! I hate really hot weather(I am living in the right state right?) Anyway, the temps have been darn right spring like. It's so weird cuz we had 97 degrees in May and in July we are having 50 and 60's. LOL!

All in all we had a real busy July but fun and Fast. My sister was here to visit for two weeks..and at the same time my brother was here for a few days too. Muffin and My brother don't get along and since we were on vacation(and Doug's Mother and Father took the Muffin for us) I didn't feel like we should make them take the dog for another week. So Muffin and Paul were forced together. LOL! That was some intense days: I mean Muffin HATES my brother. She barks at him, even runs at him, growls. She doesn't bite but she probably would if he did something sudden. LOL! I haven't figured out WHY she doesn't like Paul. I am just assuming he did something to her one time when I wasn't looking(dogs never forget). We survived those days and enjoyed our time with family(except for Muffin...LOL) but she's a cuss, What can I say!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! We celebrated by taking in a picnic. We were originally going to have a bike ride but it was forecast to rain after noon. So we packed up a picnic lunch around 8:00 AM and headed for our nearby park. We called up my Dh's Parents and they joined us in the fun. Made up ham and cheese sandwiches & chips and cookies. Very simple fast picnic. Worked out great...the rain held out the whole time we were at the park. Aaron got to play in the park on the slides and swings etc....

I ran to Caribou Coffee and got a coffee(life is good)! LOL

After the park we went home and it poured cats and dogs. Just time it out right for a change(yeah)!

Took an afternoon nap while Aaron watched DVD's. Made a good Roast dinner for my DH..........and ran to DQ later in the evening.

The PERFECT daddy day(getting to nap)what a luxury. He was in HEAVEN!

Family Wedding

Another reason been so busy.....had Family wedding on Memorial Day weekend. It was an out of town wedding and about the whole family was together for the event. Had a great time. My Nephew Neil got married to the girl of his dreams, Kayla! They are so cute together!

Catch Up and Mother's Day Weekend

Time for some much needed Blog catch Up! Been so busy haven't had time to post. I am going to start the catch up with our Mother's Day weekend. We were fortunate enough to get to use My BIL and SIL Timeshare. The timeshare is up in Brainerd, Minnesota. Very popular summertime hangout. In May Brainerd is surprisingly very quiet. It really nice to get up by the lake and have it quiet and relaxing. I got a chance to take a few pixs during Mother's Day. Here a good one of Aaron and I by Causeway's check in area. It was a really nice day outside so we enjoyed walking around the resort. Went down by the Gull Lake and took a few pixs of that too. You can see how the trees were still brown and ugly into May. It's really green now but in Minnesota.......Spring is really slow!!! Kinda skip Spring and go right into SUMMER. My DH made me a tasty Mother's Day brunch(well, I made it but he helped...LOL). It was really good but as you can see by my plate...I ate tooo much. Had to go on a big diet when I got home. We even had time to stop by and check out Madden's Resort...and stopped to have a treat at a cute eatery. Very fun weekend! Great needed Mommy's Day gift. I want to shout out to Bob and Donna for letting us use their timeshare on the weekend. That was a true treat and we always Appreciate their kindness to share. Thanks GUYS!!! Aaron Enjoyed our timeshare unit... it has a kid magnet(a big-scary-spiral staircase). I have a few pixs of Aaron enjoying the stairs. ha! Mommy was nervous! I'm more scared to go up those stairs or should I say down them. EEK! Can you say STEEP! Scary!

I thoroughly enjoyed my mother's day weekend..........thanks to my GUYS for taking care of me that weekend!

I hope everyone has a really fun Mother's day weekend. I hope ALL you wonderful Mother's get pampered on Sunday. Here is a card my son made for me in school. It's super cute! The tea pot card had some orange spice Tea inside the card. Although, I think my son got a few details mixed up. LOL~like i have brown eyes? and I like Tuna(hee hee).

I put the card on my fridge! Happy Mother's Day!!!

Not too much to post. Just wanted to wish Everyone Happy National Scrapbooking Day today. I have no plans to scrapbook. What a bummer huh? I wish, I've been missing scrappin' alot lately. I usually don't get time to scrapbook in the summer much. Although, We decided to put Aaron into Summer school program........and that is going to free up some MOM time. So I might do a little scrapbooking in the summer this year. Will see how it goes.

I didn't get any scrapbooking in this past year. Just too much going on with my Ma passing away and Aaron going to school for the first time. Really had to get use to a newer schedule. Well, that and I was completely lazy AND trying to save $$$$. Scrapbooking can be a expensive hobby. I really didn't buy too much scrapbook products this past year at all. Which is good .....cuz my scraproom is just overflowing. I need to use my old products before they get out dated. LOL!

I hope everyone has a great NSBD! If you stop by....please share what you did NSBD. I know it's not much but I plan on watching QVC Sunday night/Mon. .....I think Lisa Bearnson suppose to be on. I haven't check the schedule yet but Lisa B. mentioned it on her website.
